📄 Applying for Your License
No prior real estate experience is required. To qualify for a Texas real estate license, TREC requires that you be at least 18 years old, a legal U.S. resident, and meet TREC's standards of honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity. If you have a criminal history, TREC recommends requesting a Fitness Determination before enrolling in any courses.
Yes — and if you have any prior criminal convictions, unpaid judgments, or other legal history, we strongly recommend doing so. A Fitness Determination lets TREC review your background before you invest time and money in your coursework. You can submit a Fitness Determination request directly through the TREC website at trec.texas.gov.(http://trec.texas.gov)
